Zojuist is bekend gemaakt dat RIK SMITS (afgestudeerd aan de KABK in Den Haag) de winnaar is van de Ron Mandos Young Blood Award 2010. Deze prijs, bestaande uit een geldprijs van 2000 euro en een presentatie in de galerie in 2011, is drie jaar geleden in het leven geroepen door Ron Mandos als blijk van waardering en extra steuntje in de rug voor pas afgestudeerde kunstenaars. De jaarlijks terugkerende tentoonstelling Best of Graduates toont een selectie van pas afgestudeerde kunstenaars. Uit deze selectie kiest een jury, bestaande uit Ron Mandos, Radek Vanja en Toby Robinson, één deelnemer die extra wordt beloont vanwege zijn of haar potentie en kwaliteit.
| moreVoTH is a cultural exchange project with the Russian Federation, initiated by Ine Lamers and Marjan Teeuwen (organization of the exhibitions and the catalogue Marjan Teeuwen/ KW_14). The core of the exhibition VoTH will be an endeavour to investigate the way 8 Russian and 8 Dutch contemporary art practices analyze and reflect upon aspects of Russian contemporary society, culture and history.

Geert Mul is proud to present a new site-specific installation during RUHR.2010 at Hagen with a stretch of 300 meter: Preparations for a Possible Future. The installation will be shown at 23, 24 and 25 July 2010 at the Altenhagener Brücke (near the main railway station), Hagen, Germany. The installation contains LED lights in combination with computer-prints and is best seen after sunset.

Martin Effert en Renato Nicolodi
Op zaterdag 29 mei om 17 uur openen in Pictura 3 nieuwe tentoonstellingen.
In de grote zalen zijn foto’s van Martin Effert en beelden van Renato Nicolodi te zien. De foto’s van Effert laten ogenschijnlijk alleen maar bomen en struikgewas zien. De betonsculpturen van Nicolodi lijken schaalmodellen voor megalomane utopisten en visionairs. Het werk van de beide kunstenaars wordt sterk beïnvloed door de beladen geschiedenis van Europa. Door deze fascinatie en hun afkomst zijn zij Bound by History.

Wie zich in de vroege ochtend van 20 mei in Oud-Barendrecht bevindt, zou getuige kunnen zijn van een opmerkelijk schouwspel. In de voortuin van een rijtjeshuis ligt een ontwortelde eik. Een glaszetter is bezig het raam uit de voorgevel van het huis te halen. Een blik naar binnen verraadt dat het huis bewoond wordt, maar de bewoners zijn niet aanwezig. Een staalkabel wordt over de vensterbank heen strakgetrokken; langzaam verdwijnt de boom in het huis.

In Call Sheet, Ine Lamers presents her video work USTALA (I’m tired) in a museum context for the first time.
| moreDit voorjaar presenteert Foundation Frankendael in samenwerking met curator Nathanja van Dijk een kunstzinnig venster op de kredietcrisis. Via een aantal indringende videoportretten geeft de top van de financiële wereld een persoonlijke visie op de crisis. Daarbij vormt een hedendaags kunstwerk het uitgangspunt van het gesprek. Huize Frankendael vormt als plek voor contemplatie en de zogenaamde ʻheidagenʼ van bedrijven het speelveld; de presentatie van de kunstwerken en van de videoportretten vindt plaats in de boardrooms van het huis.
