On Saturday 27 July, during the Ron Mandos Young Blood Award Ceremony, Suzanne Swarts, Director of Museum Voorlinden announced that Stephanie Rizaj won the 2019 Ron Mandos Young Blood Award!
Galerie Ron Mandos proudly presents Best of Graduates 2019: the twelfth edition of the yearly exhibition that brings together the work of the most promising young artists. Together with curator Radek Vana, the team of Galerie Ron Mandos visits the graduation shows of all art academy’s BA programmes in the Netherlands to scout talent. The selection is characterised by a variety of subjects and media, and traditionally results in a vibrant mix of ambitious graduation projects. The show is a must see for art professionals and art lovers who are looking to discover a new generation of talented young artists. It successfully draws both starting and established collectors.
Best of Graduates offers a platform for talented young artists and introduces them to the world of galleries, collectors and curators. Galerie Ron Mandos regularly shows alumni work in the gallery and at art fairs. The Ron Mandos Young Blood Award, the Photo Talent Award and the Public's Prize are also presented annually among the participants.
Since 2018, Best of Graduates has been made possible by the Ron Mandos Young Blood Foundation.
Best of Graduates 2019 marks the start of a long-term collaboration between Galerie Ron Mandos and Museum Voorlinden. Director Suzanne Swarts takes a seat on the jury of the Young Blood Award and the artwork by the winning artist will be placed in the permanent collection of Museum Voorlinden.
Ron Mandos: ‘In the current market, there is little space for starting artists. Our annual summer show is an incentive for young people to continue pursuing their artistic dreams. I am pleased that Museum Voorlinden too recognises the importance of fostering young talent and I am proud of our collaboration with this great museum.’
Suzanne Swarts: ‘The graduation period is always an exciting time, both for the students and for the art professionals who can "hunt" for new talent every year. I am looking forward to being able to do this now in collaboration with the Young Blood Foundation. In addition, Voorlinden has the great pleasure of being able to add the winning work purchased by the Young Blood Foundation to the museum collection.’
