Marc Müller builds constructions that do not immediately reveal themselves. They maintain a mediating path between construction and deconstruction. They are architectonic compositions that can be used as furniture, but that don’t always have this functionality. Müller creates in furniture format dynamic constructions that seem only momentarily to take rest. The material is simple and the colour is white, but the effect is of notable zeal. He has blown life into these constructions but from there they have started to reproduce themselves. In a rigid and a systematic way they plough forth. The power of his work lies in how Müller knows at what point to take control so as to keep his constructions in check. He kills off the process at the point at which functionality and pointlessness seem to merge. In this way objects are created that as pieces of furniture are always useful. Stronger still however, is the way they carry with them something poetic and beautiful.
In his drawings Müller often goes a step further. His unravelling formations do not have nor seem to require breaks. Chaos has free reign, however it is chaos that exists from an overload of order. He draws interiors or pieces of furniture that set forth a path according to their own system. The drawings are in black and white and are therefore just as simple as his three dimensional objects. They provide new ideas for his objects, therefore stressing the importance of the freedom of drawing for the artist. In this sense the process of creation becomes equal to the object itself: the one influences the other, like the knocking over of the first domino in a series, fully surrendered to an external force, thus setting a creative chain of events in motion, without possibility of intervention nor of being able to bring the process to an end.
